How to Find Our Museum
The
North Alabama Railroad Museum is located in north Alabama just east of the city
of Huntsville in the Chase community. Local traffic may elect to take Meridian
Street north to Alabama A&M University and then turn right on Chase road.
For visitors traveling from out of town, the major highway leading to the
museum is U.S. Highway 72, which runs west and east between Memphis and
Chattanooga. U.S. Highway 72 can also be reached by taking Interstate Spur
I-565 east through Huntsville. The distance between the traffic at Sparkman
Drive and Moores Mill Road is 1.9 mile. From the traffic light at U. S. Highway
72 and Moores Mill Road, take Moores Mill Road north for a distance of .9 mile
to Chase Road (you will cross two sets of railroad tracks, please watch for
trains). Turn left (west) onto Chase Road and drive .5 mile and the Chase depot
will be off the road to the left. Parking is free and there is Handicap parking
available near the depot. If you need more map information about the Huntsville
area, you may want to try this
website.
Need a Place to Stay While in Town ?
Need a place to stay while you are visiting the North Alabama Railroad Museum and the Huntsville Area ? May we recommend Dogwood Manor Bed and Breakfast, conveniently located right across the street from the Chase Depot on Chase Road. You can hear the whistle echoing off the mountains and enjoy tranquil scenery from this picturesque homestead, which looks as if it could be right out of a storybook setting. Please click here to visit their website, take a virtual tour and get all the details. They will be glad to hear from you because they love trains too !
